Mainstay’s Clark rejoins IRPM Board

David Clark, Principal at Mainstay Group and a Fellow of the Institute of Residential Property Managers, has been elected to the board of governors. David was a founding governor at IRPM back in 2002 but left after a year to take up the chairmanship of ARMA.

He rejoins at an exciting time for the growing Institute who now boast more then 2000 individual members and more than 370 exam candidates a year. IRPM works closely with the RICS on the AssocRICS qualification and has recently launched its interactive learning resource.

‘I was closely involved in the formation of the IRPM and setting the first examination syllabus,’ says David, ‘the institute remains close to my heart and I am genuinely thrilled with the success that it has achieved. I am looking forward to contributing to its continued growth and further innovation.’

David believes that the IRPM is set to become increasingly important in light of ARMA’s announcement of a proposed route to industry self regulation, ARMA Q.

‘Any form of self regulation is likely to require principals and senior staff in leasehold management to demonstrate proper training and qualification as part of the regulatory framework and the push towards the professionalisation of the industry.  I continue to sit on Council and to chair the Practice Committee at ARMA and hope that I can maintain the strong links between the two organisations at this exciting time.’

RESI 11 – A fantastic event!

RESI 11, Property Week’s 5th Annual Conference was certainly one of the best.  A fantastic turnout of more than 1,000 delegates and some of the residential sectors most influential people attended this year.

The Conference kicked off with what can only be described as a ‘to the point/brutally honest’ financial overview by Fredrik Nerbrand, which certainly had a few people shuffling uncomfortably in their seats.  However, the mood was soon lifted by The Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP, who addressed the conference with a rousing speech and his vision for “homes we can be proud of” which set the tone nicely for the rest of the day.

The Gala dinner, and the now obligatory after dinner drinks at Merlin’s Bar, was the usual social success.  I say social, but I’m sure more business is done in that bar than most meetings throughout the year! Hangovers aside, I’m sure it was all well worth it.

As Gold Sponsors for the past couple of years, Mainstay are proud to be linked to the biggest residential event in the property calendar, and would like to thank everybody we met for a great few days, and look forward to seeing you all very soon.
